Heather Handley

Associate Professor Heather Handley is a volcanologist and geochemist and leads the Volcanic and Magmatic Research Group (VMRG) in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.

ARC Future Fellow 2012-2018

Heather’s research interests include: (i) the integration of field volcanology and volcano geochemistry, (ii) volcanic hazards and risk, (iii) magma genesis at subduction zones (petrological, mineralogical, geochemical and isotopic perspectives) (iv) timescales of magmatic processes using uranium-series isotopes and elemental diffusion in volcanic minerals, (v) behaviour of uranium-series isotopes during weathering and erosion and the uranium-series constraints on the formation age of sediments, (vi) geochemical investigations into contaminated land and water.
